Homemade Stromboli

Ingredients:

For the Dough:

1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)

1 tablespoon olive oil (for brushing)

For the Filling:

1/2 cup pizza sauce or marinara sauce

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup sliced pepperoni

1/2 cup sliced salami

1/2 cup sliced ham

1/2 cup sliced bell peppers

1/2 cup sliced onions

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried basil

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Red pepper flakes (optional, for a spicy kick)

For the Topping:

1 egg, beaten

1 tablespoon sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional)

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions:

Preheat Oven:

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the Dough:

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle, about 12x15 inches.

Add the Sauce and Fillings:

Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.

Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.

Layer the pepperoni, salami, ham, bell peppers, and onions evenly over the cheese.

Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese, dried oregano, dried basil, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes (if using) over the fillings.

Roll the Stromboli:

Starting from one long edge, carefully roll up the dough, tucking in the sides as you go to enclose the filling completely.

Pinch the seams and ends to seal the roll.

Prepare for Baking:

Place the rolled Stromboli seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.

Brush the top with the beaten egg to give it a golden color.

Sprinkle with sesame seeds or poppy seeds and grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.

Bake:

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the Stromboli is golden brown and cooked through.

Cool and Serve:

Allow the Stromboli to cool for a few minutes before slicing.

Slice into 1-2 inch pieces and serve warm with extra pizza or marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
