Sizzling Chinese Pepper Steak with Onions 🥩🌶️
Ingredients:
- 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:
1. Marinate the Steak: In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes to tenderize the meat and enhance the flavor.
2. Heat the Oil: In a large skillet or wok, heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil over high heat until shimmering.
3. Stir-Fry the Steak: Add the marinated steak to the skillet in a single layer and let it sear for about 2-3 minutes without stirring, allowing it to get a good browning. Stir-fry until browned and cooked through (about 2 more minutes). Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
4. Cook the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add a bit more oil if necessary, and then add the sliced onions and bell peppers. Sauté for about 3-5 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
5. Add Aromatics: Add the minced garlic, minced ginger, black pepper, and salt to the vegetables. Stir and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
6. Combine Everything: Return the cooked steak to the skillet with the vegetables. Drizzle with sesame oil and toss everything to combine, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes until heated through.
7. Serve: Transfer the sizzling pepper steak to a serving dish and garnish with chopped green onions. Serve immediately over steamed rice or noodles.
