 Easy French Onion Soup

 



 Ingredients: 4 large onions, thinly sliced, 4 tablespoons butter, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 1 teaspoon sugar, 2 cloves garlic, minced, 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour, 6 cups beef broth 

 


 Directions:

 1. In a large pot, melt the butter and olive oil over medium heat. 

 2. Add the sliced onions, stirring to coat them with the fat. 

 3. Cook the onions for about 15-20 minutes, stirring frequently, until they are caramelized. 

 4. Add the minced garlic and sugar, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes. 

 5. Stir in the flour and cook for another minute, mixing well. 

 6. Gradually pour in the beef broth, scraping the bottom of the pot to release any browned bits. 

 7. Bring to a simmer and let it cook for about 30 minutes. 

 8. Serve hot, potentially topped with toasted baguette slices and melted cheese.
